Re: How to use Wikipedia properly: the best and worst of Wikipedia
Here in Australia, the least-accurate article on Wikipedia is not about an individual politician, but a political decision = the creation of the Goods and Services Tax, or GST. Wikipedia claims that it was popular, but it was actually widely hated. Nobody in Australia has ever claimed it to be popu...

Poetlister - the actual story
The actual Poetlister story has been distorted to include me, when I had nothing to do with it. My role was solely in investigating it. I didn't help Poetlister to create fake accounts, or anything like that. I was certainly never hit on by Poetlister. Proambivouac blatantly lied about it, and, unfo...

How to use Wikipedia properly: the best and worst of Wikipedia
Many young people see Wikipedia as an extension of Google, which in turn they see as essentially just using the internet. For people who never saw actual encyclopaedias, let alone actual individual reference books, they have no idea just how bad Wikipedia is. I remember in high school, just 35 years...

Wikipedia's attitude to blocking
I found it interesting that on Wikipedia if you get blocked or banned, you can only appeal if you accept that they were right to block or ban you. If you in any way object to being banned then you can't appeal. You're not allowed to. Just imagine if our legal system worked like that. You've been fou...

Re: Moira Deeming kicked out of her political party because of Wikipedia lies
Obviously, her treatment was stereotypical of what they have done time and again. It was a particularly bad example, though, even by their standards. Usually they'd have at least mentioned their own role in her downfall.

Re: Moira Deeming kicked out of her political party because of Wikipedia lies
Moira Deeming's story relates to her platform as a politician, which was to be someone standing up for women's rights - at the exclusion of trans rights, which some people would describe as a TERF, or trans-exclusory radical feminist. This is her first speech to parliament: https://new.parliament.vi...

Re: Poetlister
By the way, SlimVirgin wasn't the guilty party. She simply protected the guilty parties. I have forgotten the names of the people who were harassing Poetlister but it wasn't SlimVirgin. SV was just a moron in dealing with this. She wasn't the abusive one. She was ALWAYS the abusive one. Unlike most...

Re: Poetlister
I don't think it takes much for Somey to turn. I'm unconvinced he has never edited Wikipedia. He likes being liked too much. Dead giveaway. I regret ever letting Mistress Selina Kyle have access to the code. While she did pretty it up a bit, she also screwed us all over enormously, and ultimately g...

Re: Moira Deeming kicked out of her political party because of Wikipedia lies
A) Australian politics is a rotten insane mess and you should have realized this by now.....just by the by, Deeming's banishment has produced a political hellstorm . The Liberals fucked up. B) I see that you tried to clean up Deeming's article and were blocked by Yamla. They will always hate you fo...

Moira Deeming kicked out of her political party because of Wikipedia lies
I noticed one thing that happened recently, where I live here in Australia, where a politician by the name of Moira Deeming lost her position in the Liberal Party (one of Australia's two major parties) because Wikipedia wrote lies about her. This was pretty shocking to me, but Wikipedia didn't care,...
