Re: This perfectly describes Wikipedia's collapse

All I can say is: Big Whoop. Musk has no say over Wikipedia , he is allegedly desperately trying to keep Tesla afloat (but if he's wasting time on ex-Twitter , then he knows his car company is sunk), he shot any remaining goodwill with his Roman salute antics and DOGE. Hope you're right, although a...

Re: WPO talks about the AI storm

The AI issue is going to be the biggest one at WP over the next five years. The hatred for generative AI among Wikipedians is palpable; and the desire for WMF engineering careerists to add AI-something-something to their resume is irresistible... And Jimmy Wales is an absolutely unprincipled weeble...

Re: "Tenet Media never existed"

Might as well add a bit of trivia: Tim Pool's "career" is the butt of a million Russian-asset and bad-pundit memes all over social media. His multiple YT channels and podcasts continue raking in good money--but most people (who have even heard of him!) seem to consider him a joke. One could say the ...

Re: AI lays another Wiki-Egg

Two weeks later and the SAS project was "paused" so they could run "surveys". And you can guess how well THAT went. Further babbling here. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Village_pump_(technical)#Simple_summaries:_editor_survey_and_2-week_mobile_study They were actually, seriously talking ab...

Re: He gone

I think Bbb23 just won't edit and will become an inactive account. Inactive accounts lose their admin privileges. Usually they do, and it might take months or years. Don't be a bit surprised if he and his supporters are just waiting for the stink to blow over. He's OBSESSED, he won't just drop his ...

Re: This perfectly describes Wikipedia's collapse

What are you talking about? All I see in that thread is loads of complaining about favorite playgrounds being demolished, airport security, and assorted other things that were easier before abusive lawsuits and social media. Someone should have posted an item about the general-aviation manufacturers...

Re: He gone

Beeb logged in twice since the 9th, on the 13th and the 18th, just to remove some blabbering on his talkpage. NO ONE is allowed to point out that Beeb has a long history of abuse. Obviously he only wants to see supporters here. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Bbb23&diff=prev&old...

Re: Crap or questionable articles

Amazing how few references, eh. This project was a giant failure, and that SHOULD be pointed out in the WP article.

Again I wish them the best of luck. (Wikipedia is already a "botipedia" anyway.)

Re: Lawsuit: Wikipedia fired transgender worker who complained about harassment

In other news, Uzbek Wikipedia is having a #MeToo moment. https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Universal_Code_of_Conduct/Coordinating_Committee/Cases/Uzbek_Wikipedia For reference, Nataev told me what was going on in Uzbek WP, back in 2013. That was the first and ONLY insight we had ever gotten about uz...
