BBC News now on the Dark Web

https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-50150981

I find it interesting they've gone that route given that British politicians and the police have denounced the Dark Web as a place for criminals to hide.

Re: A Trabant owner rebuilds his entire drivetrain....

What amazes me is reading about Trabants, Wartburgs, Nivas, and other Soviet/Eastern European cars finding their way into Western Europe, Britain, and even Canada. You'd think the Cold War would mean the West would never allow Communist products into their markets considering that Western products w...

Re: Reuters: CIA, FBI computers editing Wikipedia

The Wikiscanner article mentions "WikiWatchdog." What are its problems? Why isn't it as popular as Wikiscanner?

Re: Superyachts

According to Wikipedia, the HTMS Chakri Naruebet may very well be the largest superyacht. m Other than disaster relief, the carrier's few other departures from port are for a single training day per month[9], and transportation of the Royal Family of Thailand,[citation needed] leading to claims by s...

Re: Kumioko posting as Perseus until further decision

A new proposal is taking shape to handle (and survive) this flame-war. Thanks to Princess for her uninvolved suggestions. Restrictions for CrowsNest and Kumioko: 1. No posting in topics started by the other (the owner of the first post is Crow or Kumi) 2. No quoting of the other (in any thread, fro...

Re: Larry posts another project to Twitter

All he does is create projects that go anywhere. Citizendium is still around*, but it never did get up to the same level of popularity as Wikipedia. I've never heard of a project he's done that has succeeded (and I say that loosely) as Wikipedia.

*And it's pretty depressing.

Re: Taiwan

I wonder if the Chinese Wikipedia is polarized or primarily pro-Beijing? I would assume the Chinese government in Beijing would have the manpower and resources to push out any pro-Taiwan and pro-Tibet editors.

BBC News: China and Taiwan clash over Wikipedia edits

https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-49921173

Honestly, I'm surprised the Chinese waited so long before edit warring over Taiwan. You'd think this would have been the longest-going edit war in Wikipedia's history.

Re: A Trabant owner rebuilds his entire drivetrain....

My parents bought a 1970s Toyota Corolla back during the 1970s gas crisis. It's only amenities was a heater and, I think, a radio. It ran with few problems for well over 25 years before we sold it years. I wish they made cars like that today. To my knowledge, it's still going.
