unsurprising given his/her support for the war in the ukraine. if i had to guess, i would say he/she is either an investor in the NATO war machine corporations or worked for one or more of them, and benefits financially from taking these positions

You should realize what a FUNNY and STUPID thread that was. They started arguing about Tamzin's RFA, someone claiming to be Tamzin showed up, and this "Tamzin" and the Big Vigina took pokes at each other. It's the cheapest shot possible to accuse someone of being "ABLEIST" when you're already losing the argument.

We get very little entertainment from WPO at this late date. So enjoy their stupid screaming matches while they happen.

The idea that Assange is a Russian asset is utterly insane.... Vigiliant is too stupid to understand that if Assange is tried in the US, it will destroy investigative journalism, because the government will finally have its good working case for the Espionage Act, so both whistleblowing at a federal level and reporting on federal corruption (or CIA/NSA/etc. nonsense or just general ) will become too hot to touch and then we learn nothing about how rotten things are getting.

Assange was a Libertarian the last I had heard. Wikileaks went after everything from Scientology to corporate corruption, and for those "crimes" Hollywood made a film to smear Assange (anybody remember The Fifth Estate from 2013, where they got Benedict Cumberbatch to play Assange? 99.5 percent of the Earth's population has forgotten that film ever existed.) Never forget that Assange isn't even American, and yet they want to run him through some sort of trial inside the United States and jail him in a SuperMax somewhere. For doing the same sort of stuff Knock LA did on the deputy gangs of the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department two years ago.

Between Assange, the Backpage mess, constant complaints about Section 230 by members of BOTH American political parties, the continued decline of print media in favor of a flakier online ecosystem, and an assortment of other legal challenges, I'm starting to wonder if "investigative journalism" is an endangered species.

Every American president has endured some abuse from the Fourth Estate--perhaps they can finally muzzle their critics. (Just as Wikipedia has been doing/trying. I've wondered if political authorities have watched WP evolve into "Truth, but not actually accurate" and wondered if they could do that in the real world. "Rewriting history" has always been commonplace worldwide.)

We've been in the post-truth era for some time..

There's probably still money in investigative journalism as long as it's entertaining .. can it be encapsulated or segmented into tiktoks?

Yes but very rarely. Dummies don't like to read the news because it's "boring tldr" and "scary". They want to be entertained constantly in the shallowest manner possible. The world is sometimes an awful place but knuckleheads love Tiktok because it is dumber and happier than TV sitcoms. And does not push disturbing information about the wide world at them. A "marvelous invention" of the Chinese government. Thanks a whole lot, you bastards.
