They started accepting "Bitcoin Cash", dropping Coinbase and switching to BitPay --- and then buried the world in press releases.
(They accepted regular Bitcoin starting back in 2013.) Unfortunately only the "cryptocurrency media" noticed.

....And Bitcoin (as an investment, not a currency) is falling apart: "Bitcoin is close to becoming worthless", and the dudes on Reddit's r/buttcoin (including "friend of the blog" David Gerard) are charting the endless fail of the currency in the last 20 months, and the scams like Butterfly Labs, whose "mining" rigs were sloppily assembled and utterly obsolete in less than four years (just stick "Butterly Labs miner" into an eBay search - prices are 80%-+ off list price now!)

And as a currency, what can you use Bitcoin to buy? I mostly hear "child porn" (on a thumbdrive or through a DropBox account, I don't know), "super-illegal drugs", and "maaybe human slaves?" Giving some of it away to Jimbo's goons might be the least-offensive use for Satoshi Nakamoto's planet-warming "money" scheme. I mean, Robert LeFevre and Ayn Rand scream in the infinite Auschwitz camp of Hell every time a nickel is smashed on a railroad track by a 10-year-old, so who knows?

Bitcoin used to be used for stuff on the darkweb, but nowadays the darkweb is basically a giant honey trap. Bitcoin is buttoned down tighter than actual money, with full ID checks needed to buy and sell on any working crypto exchanges.
