Not remotely leftist. The whole "woke" thing is CIA psyop. Think about it: after the Cold War, Americans economic attitudes have shifted left-wards. To prevent this from happening they needed a distraction, that's why "wokeness" has been pushed: to kill the left. Then, from being forced to promote those accounts to administrators, the current crowd of administrators, whose whole lives revolve around having Wikipedia functioning the way they want it to, would lose control.
I don't think anything will come of it. The WMF doesn't actually want to open that can of worms, so they'll just be content making it known that they're doing their part to encourage the equality of outcome for oppressed groups, but that the enforcement is out of their hands.
If you don't know, recently there were protests over a plan to divert water from many towns to a few large multinational farms. ~30,000 people protested including environmentalists, local farmers, and residents. The French government responded by bombing them with over 4,000 grenades in the first hours alone and deployed dozens of helicopters. Later, they prevented people from getting medical help.
