(an article by Patrick Lawrence)

"Wikipedia, the alternative encyclopedia with its own objectionable relations with intelligence, as we speak carries this sentence in its entry on the Cold War programs: 'By the time the Church Committee Report was completed, all C.I.A. contacts with accredited journalists had been dropped.' This is patently, demonstrably false."

This CIA/Wikipedia connection is no surprise for anyone who reads this forum, and remembers posts a about the National Endowment for Democracy.

Here is the Larry Sanger interview by Glenn Greenwald that Russia Today mentioned:
You just KNOW that somewhere in the WMF office, teeth are being ground down over this. Larry has become a full-on "suppressive person" in the classic Hubbard jargon. Cults really hate it when a former founder goes out and openly criticizes them.

Once I have a chance to watch the whole thing (it's long), I'll post my take on it.

PS: put "consortium news" into WP and you get this

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Parry_(journalist)

Ten years ago some of the greasy little Wiki-Grifters tried to claim it was a "conspiracy website" and an "unreliable source". On the RS noticeboard, a place that has been full of mudslinging against news outlets for a long time. They failed, but did get it listed as an "unreliable source".

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia ... acy_theory
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia ... bert_Parry
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia ... arry_again

This features an appearance by a Cirt sockpuppet
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia ... _by_Russia_?

And here's Guy Chapman calling the Guardian's op-ed section a "blog" haha
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia ... isfree_RSs?

So then somebody stuck it on the RS "Perennial Sources" table, as
There is consensus that Consortium News is generally unreliable. Certain articles (particularly those by Robert Parry) may be considered self-published, as it is unclear if any independent editorial review occurred. The outlet is known to lean towards uncritically repeating claims that are fringe, demonstrably false, or have been described by mainstream outlets as "conspiracy theories."
Parry won awards for his reporting. Parry's been dead for five years. Yet Wikipedia keeps shitting on him.

And yet..... Wikipedia STILL contains dozens of references pointing to Consortium News articles. I found 196 of them!

Idiots.
