Jimmy Wales suggests Wikipedia should use the Daily Mail as a source

Because no one else is doing it--not even the media.

Jimmy Wales suggests Wikipedia should use the Daily Mail as a source

Post by ChaosMeRee » Sat Dec 09, 2023 2:03 am

This is too funny for words.

Former porn star turned Hollywood fixed Paul Barresi gave an exclusive interview to the Mail, and in a later piece gave them (presumably exclusive) use of a recording.

It's only celebrity stuff, but this is Wikipedia, they are obliged to include it.

Sadly for Wales, who has obviously been dragged to one side at a Hollywood party to explain why Barresi's Wikipedia biography is so shit when he is getting all this great media exposure, the ordinary Wikipedians are never going to revisit the lies told in pursuit of securing the Mail ban.

They said what they said, and they are sticking to it.

Remember the golden rule Jimmy.....
if it really happened then the Daily Mail won't be the only source and if the Daily Mail is the only source, it probably didn't happen
Don't cry now, it is ultimately your fault, it was your ignorant and clearly politically motivated statements about the Mail that inspired the Wikipedia editors to drive headlong down this hilarious path.

It could be worse. You could have been at a party where someone knows the truth about the man who Wikipedia still calls the "Public Astronomer at the Royal Observatory Greenwich."

Why don't you take your kids down the Observatory one weekend Jimmy, show them the benefits of living in a world where Wikipedia editors get to decide what is and is not a trustworthy source?

Perhaps there were no Guardian journalists at the High court that day because not enough people coughed up the price of a coffee eh? You irresponsible cunt.
