It's possible but the edit pattern is weirdly random, rather than a few dedicated editors pwning it.Bbb23sucks wrote: ↑Fri Jul 25, 2025 5:46 amHow many times do you need to click 'random article' before you see obvious spam? Three apparently.

Rioux is a "1337 h4x0r" type which means Wikipedia automatically treats him like royalty. Being the original author of Back Orifice 2000, 26 years ago, is enough to guarantee his permanent "celebrity status". Study the history of accounts like Myleslong, SmackTacular, and Tjarrett etc and you will see them sanctifying hacker types. Who get the deranged "special treatment" also handed out to prominent/fuckable female pop singers. Partly because members of those hacker gangs have been editing Wikipedia.
Back Orifice has been used to perform illegal intrusions on Windows PC. Uncounted thousands of times since 1999. But since it has "significant legitimate applications", Rioux is not treated like a criminal.
Look at Myleslong's userpage. Gave up on WP editing back in 2008. He openly admitted being a member of Cult Of The Dead Cow at the time. A prominent hacker crew, with its own WP article, with similar "honesty issues". Almost every article about the CDC or any CDC member was heavily controlled by Myleslong between 2005 and 2008. Similar goes for L0pht, Legion Of Doom, etc. More recently this frootloop has been updating CDC articles. Whether this is a case of paid editing or not is almost impossible to determine--but it's a clear case of gang members editing for each other.
"Ethical hacktivism" my ass. They aren't terribly ethical when it's time to protect and venerate each other on Wikipedia.
