Wikipedians should know that music genres are categorized by the style of music and not by their audience (including pop music)

I may be late now but take Bjork for example, could you specify a genre for an artist?

Bjork is a "special case". She's a nerd hero with a rabid following, so she has her own idiotic and useless Wikiproject. (I rarely see Wikiprojects with totally blank assessment tables; this means Wikiproject Bjork was a failed "project" thing and they realized it.)

Madonna is a bigger star with a longer career and a LOT more record sales. She also has a Wikiproject. The assessment lists 354 article-items, which is actually less than I remember from ten years ago. But it's still a useless monument to fanboy love.

Categorization is an accident on Wikipedia. Priority #1 is always fancruft and nerd obsessions.

Agreed 100%. Classifying artists is a pointless thing to do
