He is the commensurate victim - meanwhile he sucked the lactating tits of patrons for all they were worth;
as he frames his videos way above his "man boobs" lest you scream in horror as
there is a "literal" death that awaits him.. shoot him already.

I'm not very sympathetic to Ukraine, but my god Lira is a dumbass. What agreeable things he does say have been said by others before and better. I don't consider it a bad thing that he's free, I'm a free speech absolutist even in circumstances like Ukraine's, but what did he expect to happen when he openly sided with Russia in the country being invaded by Russia, especially when he was arrested once before?

He is severely mentally ill, and has a personality disorder, but no he is not dumb (which makes him convincingly-dangerous) he is brilliant. His sociopath-ic super-power is that he uses his intelligence to get folks to like him and thus agree with his lying.
Sociopaths are able to tell a person exactly what they want to hear — they are pathological liars, so their lies can be very believable to others. As sociopaths continue through life, they learn to cover up their manipulative behavior. (and more check boxes)
The guy was suspended from Dartmouth, an ivy league school, for sexual assault; stole a business partners website, redefined himself into a sex-patriot dating coach, film director, best selling author, renowned economist, is a professional victim, and continually reinvents his grifting. He has to tell you he is the smartest guy in the room and that he does not have to obey the rules. As you can see he is "not a transsexual grifter" he is just an ordinary low-level grifter who therefore gets no attention from the State Department on the basis they hate him personally..

If Lira played life a little more "straight" (and learned how to blend in a bit better) his sociopath-ic ways (personality disorder) could find him running a corporation, holding a major political office, founding a startup for laboratory blood testing, or creating a fake "encyclopedia" that anyone can edit. He could have been one of the "great-grifters" of all time; "a contender" who is now on the fast track to Palookaville in the Twilight Zone..of his dead end life.

The "lunatic fringe" (GrayZone) asked the State Department a whack-a-doodle "statement" nee question?

"How can the State Department allow a US citizen to be tortured in the Ukraine?" you know "one of our closest allies"

The question (which was a statement) forgot to mention anything about fleeing a country the day before your trial, being in a war zone, and practicing "propaganda nope free speech" against a "democratic" government engaged in an active war.

I don't know what is more bizarre the way Wikipedia describes "The Grayzone" or the Grayzone itself.
The Grayzone is an American far-left[13] news website and blog[17] founded and edited by American journalist Max Blumenthal.[14] The website, initially founded as The Grayzone Project,[18] was affiliated with AlterNet before becoming independent in early 2018.[1] A fringe website,[23] it is known for misleading reporting[24] and sympathetic coverage of authoritarian regimes.[1][15][25] The Grayzone has denied human rights abuses against Uyghurs,[29] posted conspiracy theories about Venezuela, Xinjiang, Syria and other regions,[30][31] and posted pro-Russian propaganda during the Russian invasion of Ukraine.[28]

Grayzone writers such as Max Blumenthal and Aaron Maté acted as briefers on behalf of the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the United Nations at UN meetings organised by Russia.[32][33][34][35]https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Grayzone

In true journalistic fashion this "news" nonsense got picked up by the Forbes robot;

The problem with Grayzone is their editorial line of opposing the American "informal" empire veers firmly into contrarianism, so they end up taking their questioning of US narratives too far in the opposite direction and engage in apologism for countries that have done something wrong solely because they have a bad relationship with America.
For example, instead of questioning the magnitude of Uyghur Internment and claims of genocide (since it is in fact exaggerated and false, respectively), they deny anything unsavory is happening in Xinjiang when the Chinese state is clearly forcing people into reeducation camps with questionable living conditions without any due process. Sometime they do a good job calling out propaganda and falsehoods spread by the US and associated "non-government" organizations, but there is plenty of legitimate criticism to be had.

Regardless, that Wikipedia article is obviously an example of the shameless bias in violation of their own editorial standards. It's over-reliant on, mostly liberal, media outlets as a source and makes extremely loaded, borderline subjective criticism with a description that's clearly deliberately intended to smear them rather document them in an objective way.

Chilean-American blogger Gonzalo Lira, who was initially detained by Ukrainian intelligence in May for 'pro-Russian sympathies'—has reportedly been rearrested as he was trying to make his way out of Ukraine into Hungary. His crime?: publishing YouTube videos critical of the war & the US-Kiev-NATO stance.
His arrest was related to jumping bail - he has not been tried (and found guilty) of the original charges.

He once again could face lengthy imprisonment, or even torture - given previous allegations which surfaced during his first detention - but he's been shunned by the Biden administration and ignored by mainstream media. So much for "democracy", free speech, and rule of law... as Lira simply doesn't have the 'correct' viewpoint on the war, and thus Washington doesn't bat an eye over his fate. Watch an entirely legitimate question on Lira from a brave reporter get ignored in the State Dept briefing room (Aug.1st)...
The sun could turn blue - anything could
Notice the "reporter" writes for zerohedge and the grayzone..
As posted previously it was a PR stunt not a question of any kind (the PR is in action above)

On Tuesday, Lira posted multiple videos explaining that he was attempting to escape Ukraine to neighboring Hungary.

He was due in a Ukrainian court this week, but essentially skipped bail and tried to make it across the Western border, where he was hoping to be granted asylum
Above is the element of truth in the propaganda piece.
