If so, why is it easier to sock than appeal blocks and return to editing legitimately?
because the sysops dig a good power trip.

Why is it easier to vandalize Wikipedia than edit constructively?
one is as easy/difficult as the other.

give up on wikipedia. youll feel better imo. :^)

Why is it easier to vandalize Wikipedia than edit constructively?

Because, any outsider editing Wikipedia is a Vandal. It is really quite easy to understand.

The only people that have the inclination to push through barriers to entry are severly mentally disturbed.

Mentally ill, like "falling in love" with a female Manga or Anime character. Having to write about that character on Wikipedia and after the breakup with Wikipedia having to post about it here.

Nowadays, the admins seem more interested in fighting sockpuppetry than in adequately revising articles. Most admins aren't interested in critical debate or discussion, but in flaunting their power. There are less than 500 active admins, and at least 100,000 active users on Wikipedia, indicating a great power imbalance.

Also, Wikipedia is the only website where editing while logged out is "sockpuppetry", and where inviting other editors to work on an article is "sockpuppetry". This just makes editing even harder.
