Jess Wade parties hard over New Years

This is ever so slightly sad. No, extremely sad.

Rather than having a life, as was tentatively suggested by Rosiestep as the reason for her long running decline in production (volume and rate), on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, Jess Wade was churning out Wikipedia articles.

She dropped British surgeon Valerie Lund at tea time on New Year's Eve, and British sociologist Michaela Benzeval right about the time most normal people are already seriously drunk and about one more drink away from groping their co-worker in a stationary cupboard.

I guess that did leave her some time to let her hair down, but not a lot, hence why she was up bright and early on New Year's Day, to post British anthropologist Anna Nekaris at 9 in the morning, then British sociologist Maggie Rae at 9 at night.

If you're thinking, well, and might have had these pre-prepared and just posted to kill time between having fun, you would be wrong. For a start, Jess was busily posting around the festive period too, the slight uptick in volume presumably because she had a lot of time on her hands. And for two, the reason all four of those biographies were Brits, was because they were all named in the 2024 New Year's Honours list, which isn't released until the 29th of December.

The articles were of course full of the usual signs of Jess Wade being a hasty and therefore crap editor. But even for her, the mistake of ensuring Valerie Lund spent her first eleven hours of Wikipedia fame wrongly identified as a CBE, is a really special kind of retarded mistake in context.

Lund had in fact been awarded the CBE in 2008, and was made a Dame in 2024. A kindly IP editor fixed this mistake, and multiple others. Jess of course didn't thank them. Probably doesn't even know they exist, like all the weirdos who follow silently in her wake, doing the shit she is supposed to do but presumably thinks she's above doing. It's fun to think how often people genuinely think the medal Jess already has, is one of these honours. Laughable really.

It's not her style. In her early years, she would be quite nasty to those who found fault with her naive but ballsy approach to Wikipedia. She had assumed from the media that feminist fury now held sway on the wiki. Laughably naive.

When she realized that wasn't going to get it done, she tried to get the Wikipedia machinery to protect her from the "harassment" these kind of people inherently see in the act of merely pointing out the things she was doing wrong. Her critics were not supposed to focus on her faults. They were supposed to be good people and help Wikipedia change the world. Typical Jimbo juice bullshit.

I think it was around that time she realized Wikipedia wasn't going to start rushing to her defence just because she's a girl. Nor because she was a prolific content creator filling obvious gaps in Wikipedia coverage.

There were factions who tried, but of course, they could never overcome the natural tendency of Wikipedia to be pro-sausage and pro-asshole. Protecting their own. It persists to this day. EEng should be nowhere near Wikipedia. Especially if you're trying to attract women editors. But he's protected beyond belief.

People twist themselves into absolute knots trying to defend the indefensible when it comes to that guy's completely unacceptable behavior. In her early days, Jess would have called that what it is. The Bro-Brigade. Now, she stays in her lane. Knows her place. Doesn't rock the boat.

After those first two phases, the nasty Wade then the Help Me Wade, Jess realized the key to her protection was to keep her head down on Wikipedia, but be a valuable PR tool outside of it. Pretend to the world that Wikipedia was changing. Not letting on to the gullible journos that it was only changing content wise, not in its demographic and culture, and only then in a very small way.

This is how you arrive at the absurd sight of Ritchie333, an Administrator with an interaction ban for harassing women, creeping into Jess' talk page page to praise her for her work and even recommend her for Adminship. While also being a key part of the decence of EEng.

Wikipediocracy are rightly silent on matters Wade. Ritchie is a beloved member of their site. I'm banned because they know I'm not inclined to show Ritchie any deference or respect just because he's an Administrator. They know fine well I can push that man to suicide, Hannibal the Cannibal style, with nothing but simple but inconvenient facts, politely stated, if I were allowed to interact with him on their "discussion" forum.

He's fucking terrified of me. The power of simple facts. Observations of the rats on the maze. Anthropological study, but by someone who knows what they're doing, not a fuckwit like AndyTheGrump, with his degree from Chuckles U, clearly.

Jess knows the score. Knows what that all means. The way Wikipedia lets Ritchie look up her skirts to sniff her fanny despite Jess having never said or done anything that would remotely be construed as an invitation to Ritchie to give her advice, praise or advancement in her Wikipedia career. She's literally never even spoke to him. But there he is. Repeatedly.

She knows. Every woman or girl she has inspired to edit Wikipedia in some naive hope of changing the world JUST LIKE JESS, has found this out in a terribly harmful way. This is why Jess is throttling back her efforts, after all these years. She knows she's failed. She knows she won't achieve her aims.

She'll keep her toe in, because Wikipedia has been very good for her personally. It clearly fills an empty hole in her social life, this mindless posting of poor biographies. But for all intents and purposes, she is done.

But she is not done harming the world. The myth is still out there, still being exploited by Wikipedia to extract monies from donors. Particularly the large donors they will be relying on in the future, now smaller donors have realized, some perhaps by trying to emulate Wade and hitting an EEng shaped brick wall, that claims Wikipedia is trying to change, is a sham.

The way to help the world is protecting children and the criminally stupid from thinking Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. If Jess Wade could be trusted to write perfect biographies, no mistakes large or small (beyond normal human error), like an "editor" of her experience and a person of her presumed intelligence, I could give a shit about her.

She can't, and the Wikipedians make sure she never has to. For this, they must pay. And it must hurt.

Other methods clearly do not work. They do not listen to reasoned arguments or soft soap criticism. They don't listen to the hard stuff either, but at least it feels good to do it. And it does have an effect.

None other than New York Brad himself has involved himself in the efforts to shield Wade from the truth in recent years. The terrible HARASSMENT. The ghost of Wikipedia past. He must feel the guilt, the heavy weight of having not done what must be done when faced with the problem that was Eric Corbett before it became "The Eric Corbett Problem".

And so now we see what Wikipedia has become. It feels even less likely that the EEng problem will be addressed by ArbCom. And even if it was, the assortment of rookies and veterans with all of three years experience on the bench, can't do what must be done.

The prospect they might do something so insane in trying, it could blow Wikipedia to smithereens, seems like a forlorn hope.

But we must try. If they try to do something, we win. If they do not, just to spite us, we win.

If the weakness of ArbCom is such that Bishonen takes control of Wikipedia and installs people like Drmies as her key lieutenants, and with roles for even Ritchie as the Royal Emptier of the Potty, we win.

There is no future where Jess wins. And there is a justice in that.

Cheats should not prosper. Evil is evil, whether man or woman.

And yet a Wikipedia unchanged, also dies.

The only way they survive, is by effecting meaningful change and becoming a truly neutral, trustworthy encyclopedia.

Wikipediocracy can do nothing to prevent this. With every childish insult, they fuel the fire within. With every act of Quisling fuckery, they seal their fate, a fate they share with Wikipedia.
