The sickening sight of Beeblebrox talking about harassment

Post by Jake Is A Sellout » Sat Sep 04, 2021 12:56 am

The brass neck on this piece of shit, honestly.

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?ti ... 1042247618

I honestly wonder how many of the participants in that discussion even realise that in that very same week, Beeblebrox had gone to a Commons debate with the sole intent of mocking Fae, gloated in an offsite forum known for doxxing Wikipedians that he had done so, expressed glee at the knowledge Fae could see this gloating, and once the Commons community had shown its unwillingness to see this as any kind of a problem, proceed to personally attack Fae on with Commons and Wikipedia, using terms like "toxic personality".

Beeblebrox won't care, but research has already proven what common sense dictates is just obvious anyway - it's not just targetted harassment that persuades women to leave Wikipedia, its seeing the near constant drumbeat of background toxic masculinity like that go unpunished, especially when it's being done by the powerful against the powerless.

Beeblebrox has recently claimed he doesn't even read these threads. And maybe he doesn't. Maybe he thinks his position is that secure, in a place like Wikipedia, with its woeful record of doing anything serious about harassment, that he doesn't need to.

He did, after all, not bother to even read portions of Fae's complaints, and referred to the rest in dismissive terms, like "blah blah". And when all was said and done, he hadn't actually apologised for anything, and had rather bizarrely tried to claim it was somehow Fae who had made him launch this unprovoked attack, which saw him import entirely irrelevant history from an entirely irrelevant project, and comment on entirely irrelevant images of Fae in a state of undress.

All the stuff that would make a woman feel safe and secure, right?

He's panicking.
Ashley has gone FOUR days without posting.
I’m presuming that when a T&S report is made their first move is to tell the putative victim to stop engaging on the websites until the investigation is complete
Or, maybe they tell the reporting person that they were easily able to determine the report is without merit and they will not be pursuing it, and the reporting user gets mad and leaves in a huff. I don't know that's what happened but I do know they sometimes speedily reject cases, just like arbcom does.
What an idiot. This is the Foundation. It can take them a week just to get to the stage where a complaint has been received and arrived on the relevant person's desk. Probably another week for them to establish the basic facts.

And since it can take months for an investigation to conclude, I doubt they tell anyone to disengage with the website as a whole, they simply tell the victim to cease responding to the harasser if they continue, and instead report any future instances directly to their point of contact.

If he isn't already, then Beeblebrox should not be saying or doing anything regarding Fae, until he is absolutely sure this has been speedy declined. Which is a near impossibility, because the only reason they would decline something this fast, is if it was obviously something that the communities can handle.

Listen up Beeblebrox. An en.wiki Arbitratrator roving across different projects and even using external websites to harass an editor is not something the community can handle, at least not until the UCOC is fully operational.

Beeblebrox needs to understand that the only logically reason why Fae would have cease editing completely, is if he is either genuinely scared of Beeblebrox and is upset the community refused to do anything about it, or........he wants someone in the Foundation who has the power to do something about it, to think he is.

Either way, he's fucked.

And considering I just noticed he actually wrote this on Wikipediocracy a week earlier about another issue...
I know T&S isn't well-regarded around here, but they do actually do things, sometimes, and it is not always due to obvious pedos. The bar is high, but that's a good thing, having them meddling in stuff projects can, or at least should, resolve on their own is not desirable. (cough, Fram, cough cough) That being said (and not really being overly familiar with this specific problem) if you can make a case that the local community should be able to resolve it, but for whatever reason is not doing so, they may be more inclined to step in. Convincing them to do that will require quite a bit of patience on the part of the reporting party. On the "takes forever" scale they are in between arbcom and the ombuds. You'll get a result, and it probably won't take an entire year, but don't hold your breath waiting for it. (six weeks is the normal minimum for anything not a slam-dunk)
.....it's a slam dunk that his post above is just him shitting his pants.
