While I'm here, I might as well get into trouble. ;) It looks like the Signpost will be amplifying the Tranarchist's essay in their upcoming "In the Media" op-ed. (§) Instead of noting that the MfD concluded that users can write pretty much whatever they want in essay-space as long as it's not contrary to policy, the Signpost writer (BlueRaspberry) suggests that the essay "reflect{s} the current mood at English Wikipedia".

As for "deadnaming", who knew that it was necessarily "hateful" as the author contends? Cf. definition given by Merriam Webster or even the entry at en.wp...

As it happens, the op-ed fundamentally misrepresents (by omission) the French RfC it is supposedly about, which pertains only to individuals who became notable under their previous name. ("...qui a acquis sous cette ancienne identité une notoriété suffisante pour remplir les critères d’admissibilité").

I do hope that referring to the Tranarchist's former pseudo is not considered dead-naming these days.

I assume you mean by transitioning. I decided to complain. Credit to JPxG for removing the Jim Crow image. He mentions 2020 in his edit summary. Imagine back in 2014, back before "woke" got whitewashed...

Looks like after this mention, they'll be republishing the essay in its entirety in two short wiks for further Sunday school study. Repetition is the mother of learning.

I've already shared my thoughts on this essay and its subject (and policy essays generally) in various other threads (1), (2), (3), but I should also point out that this sort of labelmaking is what fuels so much doublespeak and sophistry. Neologisms like "transphobic" are never necessary for making a serious point. People are habituated to this namecalling partly because it is enshrined and glorified by drivel like WP:NQP and so much other media, but it makes for vacuous, crude discourse nonetheless. When someone uses one of these words (which always seem trite and tired despite their recent vintage), it's either because they haven't thought hard enough about what they're really trying to say or because they're trying to deceive others.
