And of course, last but not least, a read of the AN/I thread shows that Floquenbeam still remains a worthy recipient of two broken legs if anyone ever finds out where he lives.
It really is classic Floquenbeam. He really doesn't have any other settings. Just Turbo Asshole.
He says what he thinks is the correct outcome per Wikipedia policy, implies others would be crazy for disagreeing with him, and makes statements that show he is either stupid or lying (who seriously believes he is unaware of the fact Jimmy and his talk page have NEVER been treated just like any other user).
And then when he gets the feedback HE FUCKING ASKED FOR, well, fuck me if he doesn't straight up IGNORE the parts which seem to prove he was indeed either being stupid or straight up lying.
To take one example....
.....I don't see that we have a policy against mentioning on a User (or User Talk) page something that a user is doing that (potentially) earns them money. There is >1 Wikipedian who has written a book which is on sale for money and they receive royalties from, and has mentioned the fact they've written a book on their user page and/or in talk page discussion. This situation seems analogous? ..... The Land (talk) 16:35, 3 December 2021 (UTC)
Straight up ignored. Like it was never even said.
When challenged, he tells people, no, you're wrong to say there's no consensus for his action, it's there, he sees it, he acted on it, and that's really all there is to it.
You think I am exaggerating? No, he really is that much of a massive bellend....
.....I'm very comfortable with my evaluation that there's a consensus for this. ..... --Floquenbeam (talk) 18:08, 3 December 2021 (UTC)
Prick.
And aside the general rule agaisnt it, why would it be a particular problem to have Floquenbeam marking his own homework here? Well, stupid fuck that he is, he either accidentally, or more likely because he just doesn't have to concern himself with the rules that apply to lesser Administrators, he happily revealed he has strong feelings and a likely prejudice in this matter in which he is Administratering.....
I do not care if he wants to auction this stuff. WP is famous because of the work of editors, and Jimbo is possibly going to make money off the backs of that work, but it wouldn't be the first time. But it seems reasonable to draw the line at him violating WP policy to publicize it. --Floquenbeam (talk) 16:44, 3 December 2021 (UTC)
This is Floquenbeam all over.
Doesn't give a shit about anything but what he believes. And what believes, is of course, what is true and right and just. Other editors only exist to marvel at his awesome work, or to be trampled under his boot.
He always, ALWAYS, turns situations like this into a scenario where you either have to accept he is right, EVEN in situations where he has an obvious prejudice and has made several glaring errors of judgement and basic fucking fact, or you have to roll up your sleeves and prepare for a fight.
A fight to the death. Otherwise known as an ArbCom case.
Which isn't worth it, because who the FUCK on ArbCom has ever shown they have the balls to do anything to an Administrator as powerful as Floquenbeam even when he is failing in his one sworn duty - always be resolving a dispute, rather than the cause of one.
Oh, and as a related aside, wtf is this shit?
This wouldn't be the first time Jimbo's activities onwiki were questionable... Izno (talk) 22:52, 3 December 2021 (UTC)
That's a candidate in the ongoing ArbCom election! Just casually tossing out serious accusations sans evidence. And he's likely to get seat too. This truly is the self governing Wikipedia of Fram/Floq, not policy or the WMF.
He who has the least shame, shall attain the most power!
If there is a dominant theme there, before and after he acted on the consensus he claimed he saw, it's that Floquenbeam has made a mountain outfit a molehill and needlessly quite deliberately caused a dispute rather than taking any of the other recommended Admin actions (including just doing nothing, because there are hundreds of other Admins and they aren't all in the pocket of Jimmy waiting for their share of his filthy auction maluka).
If that sort of problem attitude in an Admin reminds you of anyone, the supremely arrogant supremely disruptive lone wolf, it's because it comes straight from the Fram school of shit-baggery. He is so like Fram, he even signs off this dispute in a very classically Fram like way - restate all your arguments, assert what you have done is of great importance, and state that you are shocked that people you formerly respected have apparently lost their minds and are now working to destroy Wikipedia.
Always be ensuring the Drama Level is at 11 and that every situation is all about you. Just like they teach you at Wikipedia Administrator school.
I swear to God, you put Fram's signature on this shit, and people would totally believe he said it...
@Swarm: (and anyone else interested) I’m not sure whether someone who asks "what the hell?" and "do you really have nothing better to do?" is asking rhetorically or not. I suspect they are, but very briefly, I'll review, in case this is an actual question. I brought it here because I asked Jimbo to remove it himself and he wouldn’t. Because I couldn’t think of any other way to get a consensus, and Jimbo has enough political clout that it would not be wise to act against his wishes without consensus first (unlike how we would handle literally any other editor doing this). Because in spite of the fact Jimbo says it wasn’t promotional, it was promotional (read it if you haven't). Because he's being disingenuous in his explanation for how it couldn't possibly be promotional ("no Wikipedia editor is going to buy the NFT" does not mean it isn't building publicity and buzz, nor that it wasn't intended to). Why edit war? Because I waited for a consensus to form, and the people who reverted me felt they had a right to ignore that consensus, and either claim it didn't exist, or that their own opinion trumps consensus thru the magic of IAR. Because I find it important to the site’s long term success that we don’t take our ethics cues from the WMF Board. They have a financial interest in this being publicized too.In summary, because I don't think the mayor should be allowed to drive 55 mph in a school zone and not get pulled over, while we say "it's the mayor, relax". Because as our public face, he should be trying, actively trying, to be like Caesar’s wife, and we shouldn’t be trying to justify him instead doing questionable things by narrowly parsing policy wording. It’s apparently not getting re-added, so I’m fine if you think this discussion should be closed because discussion of inappropriate behavior is somehow more damaging to the encyclopedia that the actual inappropriate behavior itself. I'll try and think a little about why someone who's judgement I usually respect thinks onwiki advertisement is fine in this one case, if you'll do me the courtesy of thinking about why I might consider this important enough to address. I honestly do not think you've tried to do that yet. --Floquenbeam (talk) 01:36, 4 December 2021 (UTC)
Fuck me.
Isn't it always so nice to be told by a piece of shit like this that they're the ones who really care about Wikipedia's "long term success"?
I don't know why he hasn't got the memo, but Wikipedia is failing. And one of the reasons often given, is that ordinary editors get very sick, very quickly, of having to stomach the sight of all powerful Administrators like Floquenbeam getting away with shit they would never get away with, ironically.
Theoretically, an ordinary editor doesn't even get the chance to be in a position to hound someone like Jimmy over what is clearly a personal feud borne of jealousy, masked for convenience as an ethics dispute, never mind edit war because they claim they see the consensus to their advantage and so fuck you.
An ordinary editor is expected to never edit war, take note of when other people make salient points, address them ALL, politely and seriously, and if there is still no agreement, step back and let a NEUTRAL party divine the consensus path.
The normal rules don't apply to Floquenbeam, and the Admin conduct rules (necessarily higher) certainly don't.
He does what he wants. And you can see why. Nobody stops him. He gets his preferred outcome. All negative feedback is quicky and quietly forgotten.
Seriously, someone break his fucking legs, see if that stops the bastard.
Even if it doesn't, it's the right thing to do. Justice.
I mean, come on, if seeing someone act like that and get away with it so fucking easily, doesn't make you seriously angry, well, you're not normal my friend.
HTD.
