Re: Quora has become anti-Wikipedia-leadership
Things are changing a lot. This Reddit post, which got so many anti-Wikipedia comments, had probably made it on Reddit's front page some days ago.journo wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2024 1:44 pmI've noticed Quora is chock full of people banned from Wikipedia. Because like thousands are banned per week or whatever. Quora also has become very anti-Wikipedia-leadership as a result.
While these forums are good and all, to reach the people this forum seeks, Quora is really where it's at right now.
What's amusing is when admins come there to try to present the case for Wikipedia and simply cannot deal with long-form argumentts because they have no muting power and leave after 1-2 comments, completely giving up.

Not to mention that there are serious concerns about Wikipedia's future.

The ANI lawsuit is going to result in a Fram 2.0, or perhaps worse.

There's nothing from the ANI front yet, however it's more likely than not that the WMF has already betrayed the editors by now.Ognistysztorm wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2024 7:49 pmThings are changing a lot. Re: Quora has become anti-Wikipedia-leadership
In the past Quora was constantly receiving anti-WP and critical comments. The difference is, today, they aren't being deleted immediately. Original founder Adam D'Angelo (got rich by being an early Facebook employee) was a big Jimbo fan, and made Jimbosuckers into moderators. But there was a major purge in 2020 because the company was losing money like crazy. They're much more willing to allow anti-WP posts today. Was unthinkable in 2015.
Christ, so much mumbling stupidity. This is also a major change, posting ANYTHING of a negative nature there before would have gotten you an instant ban from all of Reddit.

Things are changing for the better these days. I think you might finally get your book published in about two years from now, give or take.ericbarbour wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2024 7:29 amIn the past Quora was constantly receiving anti-WP and critical comments.
