Re: The (new, straight-from-scratch) Trump thread
I seem some discussion in this thread about Trump's claims that the 2020 election was stolen or fraudulent. There has been very little good evidence presented that electronic voting machines were compromised. However, there is very strong evidence that a massive ballot harvesting operation was conducted, especially in the swing states and in large cities. Some of it was legal, some illegal, and some in a gray area that merits further investigation.
I believe the reports of ballot harvesting because I witnessed it myself. I'm an election officer in my county and have been since about 2017. At the 2020 election I worked for a couple of weeks at the county government office processing absentee/mail-in votes. The post office would bring in boxes of ballot envelopes each day, and we would open them up and get them assembled to be run through the electronic tabulators. We worked in pairs and I was usually paired with a Democrat representative (I'm registered as a Republican). Interestingly, my regular partner was a retired government intelligence analyst.
We noticed a pattern right away. Boxes of ballots from nursing homes and apartment complexes with a high density of naturalized immigrants would come in at the same time. Many of the ballots had a voting assistance form with them which means someone was declaring that they were assisted in completing their ballot by a third party. Many of the voting assistance forms were incomplete, often missing the assistant signature, or the name was illegible. The ballots in the group often had the same mistakes which caused some of them to be declared void and trashed, but most were mistakes that did not disqualify them.
We reported it to county election officials who were dismissive. I told the Democratic and Republican election observers, who seemed at a loss about what to do about it. I also told the election integrity committee for the local Republican chapter. I explained that in order to fully investigate what had taken place, they would need to examine all 100,000 or so mail-in ballot envelopes (preserved in a warehouse) to find the patterns and then put shoes on the pavement in those areas to interview people to see what had occurred. The party decided to focus their resources on ensuring integrity in future elections which was probably a good decision based on the resources available.
I should add that this type of ballot harvesting is legal in my state, if it is done correctly. If the political operatives who perhaps were harvesting those ballots were completing them without the voter being present, then that would be illegal. Also, this type of ballot harvesting is not legal in other states. There is quite a bit of video on X/Twitter of harvested ballots being deposited. One, which I can't link to because X doesn't make it easy to find tweets in a web browser, shows an operative bringing a stack of ballots to a remote deposit box, noticing that the envelopes haven't been signed, then takes them all back to her car and signs them then brings them back and stuffs them in the box.
Trump's campaign has highlighted some of this in his election fraud summary:
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics ... r-AA1mwV01
Since then, I witnessed gaming of the provisional ballot process in 2022. I was working as a precinct chief at a polling station and, right before closing time, about 10 homeless-looking people came in together, said they were not registered to vote, and requested provisional ballots. I was helping one of them complete his provisional ballot cover (not the ballot itself) and congratulated him on voting for the first time. He chuckled, looked me in the eye, and winked. Again, this is not illegal, but if my observation is correct it shows that one of the political parties was using an angle to try to get more votes.
The thing is, before the 2020 election there were strong rumors that the Democrats were running a big ballot harvesting machine and Republicans failed to act on it. The way elections work, you have to have that kind of thing run to the ground BEFORE the election takes place, because afterwards is a struggle to put together a case in the limited time you have to contest the results.

Re: The (new, straight-from-scratch) Trump thread
You have a good point, although I still think there wasn't enough election fraud in the 2020 presidential election to have swung it.
America has a long and grand tradition of ballot-box stuffing. In the past most of it was the work of Democratic administrations, usually in big cities run by a "political machine", like NYC or Chicago. Such fraud usually affected only local election results. The GOP is still learning the ropes here, since they don't have a "handy" demographic of disenfranchised voters to draw upon. Like it or not, polling places in the US are usually full of elderly retired white people, because younger people are working for a living and POCs are often STILL prevented from voting. The 1965 Voting RIghts Act was only partly successful. Considerable hatred of black people is still shared by working-class Democrats and Republicans.
Both sides screw up constantly and seem to usually cancel each other out on a larger scale.
This country is such a huge, complicated and divisive political mess that serious/successful election fraud (of the Turkmen variety, for example) hasn't happened in US national elections. Supposedly. And you will have difficulty filtering that out of the hash that Wikipedia shows for "election fraud".
But it does have plenty of angry rants. Especially when the T-word is mentioned. And it was all for naught, he's still gonna walk away with the 2024 Republican nomination, and (if the usually-poorly-run private polls are correct) stands a good chance of winning another term.

Re: The (new, straight-from-scratch) Trump thread
Then no one bothered to try to exploit them in polling places because there's absolutely nothing secure about them. They're black boxes with secret software that hacker conventions hack for fun in 5 minutes.
Ballot harvesting isn't illegal anywhere except Alabama because there's nothing bad about ballot harvesting. https://ballotpedia.org/Ballot_harvesting_laws_by_state It's not a legal term and there's nothing wrong with helping the elderly vote.
If ballot harvesting occurs with something illegal like vote tampering, the ballot harvesting isn't the illegal part, the vote tampering is.
If street-level "blame the average joes, election officials, voters, and activists" voter fraud was an issue, there was no short of legal campaigns, funded by Trump's team to find any of this. All his claims were all thrown out in court and as you know, he's facing jail for asking the Georgia governor to make up votes.
The biggest question for me is why in the world should I trust anyone who takes a criminal election fraudster as a jumping point for a discussion about... individual level voter fraud again him.

from a private email exchange:
Yeah whatever. Sick of seeing people babble about this stuff.> Click on "See all" and then "See top donations":
> https://www.gofundme.com/f/stand-with-t ... settlement
> Forbes says he's worth $2.6B. Ka-ching!This Gofundme was started by Elena Cardone. "A wife" of Grant Cardone. (?) There is no Wikipedia bio of Grant Cardone. I can tell you why. He's a high-ranking Scientologist, and Wikipooters HATE Scientology. He HAD an article on WP twice in the past---both times quietly deleted for "lack of notability". If the media starts (stupidly) covering this Gofundme, it could change.I took a random sample of the donations listed there, and the AVERAGE is about $34. So he will need more than 10 million suckers to donate similar amounts. And that doesn't count the Carroll judgement. He actually will need $536 million. The chances of that? Extremely doubtful. You know what elderly Americans tend to be like.....sitting on assets and complaining how "poor" they are. Boomers will look at Donald and think, "I love him....but oh dear, not THAT much." Great American businessman.

My favorite "news report" was this guff put out by Fox. They would ask Turley. New York already is a banana republic, you fucks.
https://www.foxnews.com/media/trumps-ny ... ic-experts
It's part of why he's so damn desperate to get back in the White House. So he can then try to talk the Secret Service or Army Special Forces into starting a secret death squad And then order them to go around murdering anyone who caused him "grief". Why do you think he likes Putin so much?

Re: The (new, straight-from-scratch) Trump thread
Watched a few videos about Trump's criminal cases and have since been bombarded with unwelcome YouTube recommendations for the last 3 months straight. Specifically, being recommended channels which wish Trump be booted from the ballot or jailed as soon as possible.
Let America have its referendum to be partially ruled by a queeny reality TV sociopath who refuses to leave office. He still has not conceded from the last time he lost, defying pretty much everyone before him. I am looking at other countries to move to though in the case he does win. Slim pickings.
Maybe Spain.
