If you're talking about funny web videos, don't forget one of the earliest makers, Camp Chaos. Their heyday was 2000-2004. Owner Bob Cesca was a genius at political and social satire. And had a talent for pissing people off--his "Spongebong Hemppants" videos brought him legal threats from Nickelodeon in 2005. Shortly after, Cesca shut the site down.

Only a few of their dozens of videos were posted to YT....many more are either buried somewhere in the Wayback Machine, or lost forever.

The most famous one was "Napster Bad!", a rare parody of Metallica. People barely remember Napster today. Cesca made a whole series of follow-up videos.
