If anyone isn't clear on how far the woke takeover of Wikipedia has gone, witness this insanity.....
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia ... ans_issues
I think this might be finally what destroys Wikipedia's credibility in the UK.
This isn't the Daily Mail. This is an establishment newspaper. People are going to notice. They are going to ask questions. And they will take action (write laws, investigate charities, kick Lord Jimmy Wales in the nuts) if they think the answers they get appear to treat them like they were born yesterday.
Here is what will be revealed when people start digging.....
Yes. "Wikipedians" really do decide weighty matters like this with absolutely no hint of the very academic rigour they keep banging on about. It really can be as simple as chucking a few examples up, and having a show of hands. Like a bunch of unwashed hippies.
They are not professionals. They know nothing about how to judge the reliability of a newspaper. Some of what they say, and say with the conviction of an expert, is quite literally, literally, laughable.
They are biased. They can lie and they do lie. Lies are rarely corrected. There won't even be a rigoruous closure which details each and every claim, rating it true/fasle. You will instead simply be told the person who did it in their heads is an Administrator, so they can be trusted.
When they see it, they'll go back and look at how Wikipedia banned the Daily Mail, and realise they did the exact same thing then.
They'll see that Wikipedia has a policy against making libellous statements about living people, with one exception. With an almost staggering nonchalance, the "Administrators" of Wikipedia will always do nothing whenever the professional reputation of a British journalist, their editors or their bosses, is being libelled on Wikipedia's servers.
And to be clear, that's knowingly making a false statement that materially harms. So your only defence for false statements is that you're a moron whose opinions don't matter. Not exactly the headline Wikipedia wants.
So if it happens again, that's a pattern. Patterns get corrected in the British system. This isn't America. We aren't retarded.
I think the funniest repetition is the bias of the proposer. Just as with the Daily Mail, they don't just have an opinion, their view borders on irrational hatred, or just total delusion. Wikipedia can and should prevent such a thing tainting these affairs, but they chose not to. They think of themselves as untouchable.
They think people can't easily discover that the guy behind this proposal also wrote an essay that, if it were policy, would see the political mainstream leaders in Britain on both the left and the right, banned from editing Wikipedia because they're apparently transphobes. Who knew Britain had lost it's mind and started electing fascists? Oh no, wait, that's America, isn't it?
Woke Wikipedians are trying to ban the Daily Telegraph now!

lol, this is how Arbcom cases get started. Idiots who post this kind of ranting crap eventually make too many enemies, regardless of the "house bias", whatever that is this week.
Point taken, but just remember: one major reason why Jimmy Wales became a British subject was (IMO) to seek the protection of UK libel laws. Because he knows he fucked things up. That's not what I would call "pattern correction".Patterns get corrected in the British system. This isn't America. We aren't retarded.

And also: I predict that David Gerard is, or soon will be, heavily involved in this bullshit somehow.....

Side comment: it appears that the Reliable Sources noticeboard has become a forum for crazy randos to condemn sources for a variety of oft-incoherent "reasons". IDONTLIKEIT, in simpler terms.
Right now there are long, long squabbles over the reliability of the Times of India (I cannot figure out why), the Dorchester Review (something to do with saying "bad things" about the past treatment of indigenous Canadians, courtesy of perennial noticeboard flake and buttlick Elinruby), which then morphs into jabbering about an editorial in the National Post, then Elinruby starts confusing the Toronto Sun with the Toronto Star (she can't make her mind up which one to ban for saying something "bad").
The assholes have become so arrogant, they think they can sit "in judgment" of ALL the world's news media. And I DARE you to find an updated WP list showing which sources are "officially reliable" and which are not. No official list and general vagueness means, people can play sneaky games with sources, and use them as tools to attack and ban anyone they dislike.....

The hoopla about "trans issues" is absurd, but at least some of the transgender crowd must believe what they're saying. Conversely, the mass media misleads and misinforms their audience intentionally. Any given political item published by one of the large, highly-consolidated news/media organizations is almost always either deceptive or irrelevant or some combination thereof. The mass media are not "reliable" under any reasonable interpretation of the word, nor do they deserve the public's deference or trust.ericbarbour wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2024 7:52 pmThe assholes have become so arrogant, they think they can sit "in judgment" of ALL the world's news media.
