NATO-funded doxxers a step removed from Wikipedians

Post by hyatt » Sun Apr 24, 2022 3:58 am

The headline is: Libs of TikTok Doxing Uncovers Secret Hacker-Government Mercenary Alliance Behind Regime’s War on MAGA Americans
Who is Travis Brown? In essence, a man paid by the German government to target, dox, and harass the international left’s ideological enemies.
Brown’s doxxing operation isn’t an independent venture. He is backed by the Prototype Fund, a project of the Open Knowledge Foundation Germany, an “independent not-for-profit organization.” The notion that the foundation is “independent” is, of course, a lie. OKFG receives funding directly from the the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
Open Knowledge Foundation Germany is also funded by:

* Alfred P. Sloan Foundation
* Knight Foundation
* National Endowment for Democracy, a well known CIA front
* Omidyar Network, partners in the $23 trillion Global Steering Group for Impact Investment that is run by Sir Ronald Cohen of Apax Partners... as a partnership with Russia
* Shuttleworth Foundation
* William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, run by the same people as the Rothschild Foundation and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

There are a few notable people in their advisory council such as Benjamin Mako Hill, a Debian/Ubuntu developer and member of the Wikimedia Foundation advisory board. Also there is Professor Nigel Shadbolt, director of the Web Science Trust which organizes the ACM Web Science Conference which in at least one year was organized by Mark Bernstein.

Also present is Mark Surman, executive director of Mozilla, whose wife Tonya Surman is a "social entrepreneur" who runs the "Centre for Social Innovation".

* Knight Foundation
A name that is well-connected to the WMF. Numerous threads on Wikipediocracy about their funding of the WMF and that "Knowledge Engine" business. Not to mention Knight and the WMF having numerous connections via the Berkman Klein Center.

Some samples?
https://wikipediocracy.com/forum/viewto ... =23&t=3565
https://wikipediocracy.com/forum/viewto ... =43&t=7260
* National Endowment for Democracy, a well known CIA front
Openly admitted in the Wikipedia article. Not that anyone at the WMF cares. Their money is green.

Oh, btw, someone I know via Facebook (And btw, NOT a political conservative) was complaining today about Taylor Lorenz. Not only is she nuts, she works for Bezos. AND Wikipedians evidently think she's a "hero". Plus:
She was a 2019 Knight Visiting Fellow at Harvard University and is an affiliate at Harvard's Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society.[2]

WMF meets WEF: Lila Tretikov is in a database of World Economic Forum graduates. This is doubly interesting when considering the rumor on the chans years ago that Tretikov was forced out over politics as an actual Russian wasn't enough of a commie for them. Being in the WEF didn't protect her.

Good point. Although I suspect they forced her out mostly because she would not rubberstamp "business as usual" and tried to force a few likely-necessary reforms.

You pointed out something essential: conspiracy nuts always have plenty of ammo for their paranoia, because there ARE some wealthy people and their professional toadies trying to manipulate global politics for their own ends. A subculture of nonprofits has grown up about this scene. Wikimedia is trying to slime their way into the scene--and not doing a very good job, because maintaining their idiotic little "encyclopedia cult" and the power structure therein, is FAR more important.

An aside:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:X-Editor

Heavily editing Taylor Lorenz's article, and the Libs of Tik Tok article, and the incredibly world-class stupid article PewDiePie vs T-Series, and various related online screaming matches. Plus likes to bitch about Elon Musk. Plus has spent a remarkable amount of time in recent years using Wikipedia to belittle Wikipedia co-founder Larry Sanger....

X-Editor practically pwns the Gab article. As absurd and "hatey" as Gab is, it's not actually very successful. Another spluttering paranoiac conservative echo chamber and so what. Just put that down and leave it. Yet X-Editor can't stop picking the scab.

Does this look like the editing pattern of any other than a mechanical ragey fully-polarizing progressive POV-pusher to you? X-Editor's userpage will tell you very little about what X-Editor actually does on WP. By design.

It should be obvious that X-Editor is a sock account belonging to someone who has been embedded in WP culture for a long time. Feel free to figure out who that really is. (This reminds me of the kind of crap that a Cirt sock would pull.)

Last I checked it was not against the law to use "sock puppets or meat puppets" (TOS perhaps) but WMF would like to think they can change law and reality to their will. Which is sort of funny because they support and tolerate "the long con of internal sock puppets managed-owned by power users" and then threaten anyone in the outside world that uses the same methods to overcome the weight of Wikipedia nonsense. Threats posted on Wikipedia and Cease and Desist Letters would be examples of the type of bullying WMF does, it is much easier to bully outsiders than it is to fix problems internally.

Tolerated sock puppetry is part of the long Wikipedia con, it's the same as the administrator long con, or the paid editing con via a PR service, or the fan-boy long Wikipedia con.

Correct. And if you challenge them at an "officially sanctioned" meetup, they will physically throw you out of the room.

Quasi-related: NAFO, the North Atlantic Fellas Organization. Twitter pro-Ukraine group that "raises funds" for the war. Also shitposts and trolls people like crazy, especially "Ruzzians" (people who are either pro-Russia/pro-Putin or are perceived as such. In other words, a private Thought Police.) Kyiv Post talking to the founder, Kamil Dyszewski: https://www.kyivpost.com/russias-war/fo ... detre.html

According to The Greyzone Dyszewski is a known anti-Semite and Polish neo-Nazi and the fundraising is pretty sketchy: https://thegrayzone.com/2022/10/20/ukra ... criminals/ The scamminess/scumminess of the Ukrainian war effort is undrereported, including the FTX link: https://thegrayzone.com/2022/11/15/ftx- ... stern-aid/ It does not help that Zelenskyy and his people want nuclear strikes on Russia, or want a war with Iran over Iran's aid to the Russian war effort (https://thegrayzone.com/2022/11/12/zele ... -war-iran/ ).

Can't find any other sources apart from Greyzone? Some "serious news media" coverage would be more helpful. Can't rely on Reddit for "sources" either. Also most NAFO people seem to consider Dyszewski to be a minor troll and not the "leader of the movement". He may have started it but a lot of foreigners, mostly Americans and Brits, have "hijacked" it from him. He's the idiot local media goes to for "soundbites". Are they NATO shills? Maybe--not very effective ones anyway. You tell me.
https://www.kyivpost.com/russias-war/fo ... detre.html

Zelenskiy was WAY out of the loop in the 1990s, when Ukraine leadership allowed the US to pressure them into scrapping the few leftover Soviet nuclear weapons they had. This is clearly a major reason Putin went after Ukraine--he figures they can't fight back. Hindsight is useless and all of this is beyond stupid.

Ukraine and Russia are just like most other former Soviet republics. They have systemic corruption that is almost impossible to root out. Much of it goes back centuries. Only the Baltic states managed to escape that miserable past and have become "good little capitalists" and NATO members (they would be sitting ducks otherwise) and so forth.

You don't see Putin invading Kazakhstan or Kyrgyzstan, do you? Because they don't have the warm-water ports or the arable land or the coal reserves Ukraine does. Kazakhstan is literally a massive clump of useless desert real estate. Run by deeply corrupt people.

This is OT anyway. I have yet to see NAFO "fellas" trying to diddle WP content in their favor. Apart from perennial crank and former admin Jengod, the largest editor of the NAFO article....but pro-Russian POV editors are not difficult to find on en-wiki, or especially ru-wiki.

He doesn't want to rule Kazakhs (and Russians who stayed after 1992), Putin wants an East Slavic land of mostly Orthodox Christians made up of Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus, i.e., he wants Tzarist Russia before they moved south and invaded Central Asia.

Zelenskyy was not a politician yet in the 1990s. The new Ukrainian government of Leonid Makarovych Kravchuk was still reeling from all the Afghan war dead (Ukrainians in the Soviet Army), the Chernobyl disaster, and the economic transition. The Lisbon Protocol they signed concerning nuclear weapons was also signed by Russia, Belarus (then going as Bylarus or Belorusia), Kazakhstan; everybody but Russia wanted out of the nuclear weapons game in the ex-USSR, the upkeep costs are huge. You think that nukes would stop Putin? Also if they were in silos, they can't be turned to face Russia, they have to fly towards the US or Europe if launched. You seem to forget the "fuck this nuke shit" mentality of the 1990s, especially once all the costs of SDI/"Star Wars" rolled in. Nobody wanted to deal with nuclear weapons or nuclear energy except for France and Israel, and Iran and the DPRK (N. Korea) have only gotten to nukes as a defensive wildcard (especially Iran, which is terrified of Netanyahu launching his Hebrew Barbarossa plan nobody has seen but you just know he has in a bottom drawer.)

Can't find any other sources apart from Greyzone? Some "serious news media" coverage would be more helpful. Can't rely on Reddit for "sources" either. You don't get it -- "legacy media" (New York Times, The Washington Post, Harper's, etc.) is just not following anything that is heavily online, especially a thing that is deeply buried inside Twitter. It's Max Blumenthal or nothing. And the outfit they send money to, the Georgian Legion, is that "fine gang of killers" George Patton's son gushed about in front of the TV cameras in Vietnam; they are a goon squad in the Pravii Sektor/Azov tradition.
