Apparently it's no longer permitted to criticize WP on Mastodon servers.

A 72 hour clock, which I arbitrarily started with the following post on Wikipediocracy, is going to finish ticking. After that WMF would likely face huge fines from data protection authorities in Europe for failing to disclose breach in due time.

Mmm.. Mastodon is decentralized.. each instance can have its own rules but mastadon.social is the "original" server .. pretty sure there are other instances that have no problem with posting information known to be wrongericbarbour wrote: ↑Thu Jul 24, 2025 2:31 amApparently it's no longer permitted to criticize WP on Mastodon servers.

Re: Massive leak on Wikimedia sites
How would you know whether it is or isn't? If you just mean you scrapped this data off the internet.. that's one thing but doesn't mean the information was true or accurate in the first place

Re: Massive leak on Wikimedia sites
Whatever and wherever. The Mastodon-verse can be like Wikipedia, cultic and intolerant of "certain" opinions. Doesn't seem to matter what those opinions are--but that scene (in general) tends strongly to the left. AND it's difficult to study or take surveys of.
This Reddit thread from 2021 lists some Mastodon servers by political slant. Most of the leftist servers, QuodVerum and Liberdon are still in operation but the "far right" goyim.app failed hard. And I can't even tell if any of them have significant traffic. Access is only allowed for logged-in users. A great setup for cultic operations of all kinds.
Which reminds me: Gab became part of Mastodon in 2019. And it was swiftly isolated. (Perfect example of editwarring? Gab's Wikipedia article. 245kbytes of angry rant. Largest editor: the notorious X-Editor, who quit in 2023. Never saw a contentious political article he couldn't fight over. Second heaviest editor: Molly White.)
The WPO thread is full of the usual mushmouthing. All the blubber about Lugnuts is useless. But it does have a few useful items. Bbbsucks is invited to confirm or deny any of this.
Hey, dude, if it's in there, give ME a copy of the Arbcom internal wiki. I need a few laughs. The ones I looked at (March 2021) had content, but not the oversighted/revdel'd content I was aware of from that month (Lugnuts's fake suicidal posting that he pulled to try to derail an AN discussion about him that was headed towards imposing sanctions - it's beyond me that he wasn't indef'd for that BS).
Most of the revdel'd content appeared to be hidden IP numbers, email addresses and so-forth, so yeah, that's not great. Some of it clearly wasn't from EN WP either, but instead from Wikimedia, which suggests possibly this was a database-level breach and not stolen credentials (if, again, this is a legit leak).
It's possible that ARBCOM's internal wiki is in this data somewhere....
U2? Yeah, they DO need more vinegar. Too often WPO looks like a gamer-nerd forum. But someone else can add the vinegar.tim wrote:I'm failing to see the point of this entire exercise.
